Whether you decide to breast feed or bottle feed, one of the first things you realise is that it is all about position. If you get your position right then you can happily feed one or two babies, by bottle or breast at the same time, happily and comfortably. And a pregnancy pillow will help you do this.

In its most extreme version, this pain can cause Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) where the pelvis may lock and the individual becomes unable to move for varying degrees of time. This can be distressing, and in some cases, debilitating resulting in the need for crutches for support or complete bed rest.

However, there are lots of things you can do to alleviate and reduce the pain you experience in your pregnancy.

One of the most important things to do is to ensure that your pelvis gets the support it needs as much as possible.

The use of a good pregnancy pillow positioned between your legs will ensure that when you are lying down your pelvis is supported in the correct position, alleviating any stress on your spine and giving you time to relax in the correct position. 

When you are walking about or sat in a chair, the use of a good maternity belt will also help. A maternity belt gives a slight lift to your bump, reducing the pressure on your pelvis and supporting your spine so that the movement is reduced and the pain is alleviated or stopped completely.

In addition there are plenty of ways to reduce the pain without resorting to pharmaceutical pain relief. Experiment to see whether warmth or cold is more effective with your pain. As a rule, warmth will ease muscle strain whilst cold can reduce inflammation and swelling.
